Chapter 1: The Steal Away

“Please! She was the only friend I had in America! I finally have a chance to visit her,” Robyn pleaded. “I bet if she sees you guys she will think I did something wrong again! And Lynn’s father said he was paying for me!”

“No, you are not going unless I go, you know that,” Cye shook his head.

“I will be gone when we get out for the summer break before the collage thing you guys wanted to see! PUH_LEASE!!”

“Robyn!” Cye turned to the green eyes waiting for his ocean blue-green. “I got an idea, let’s discuses this over dinner. Mom isn’t supposed to be home till 1a.m. So let’s eat.” Cye’s mother had left because his sister was painting over at her place and she went to help. Cye helped the first couple days.

“Yeah! And I will call Rowen, Kento, and…and Ryo.” Robyn smiled. “ And Sage, cannot forget Sage.”

“No, I don’t have permission,” Cye turned to see the pleading green eyes again. “Fine, but you are taking the blame this time.”

“Ok,” Robyn disappeared into the kitchen to call everyone. Of course, Cye lounged on the couch for about five minutes till she came out smiling. Seconds later, she disappeared again into her room.

Back in America, Robyn met a nice young girl, about a year younger then her. She was new at the school and needed help, being the nice girl Robyn was trying to be, she helped this “new” girl out. The new girl’s name was Lynn Nilles. She was staying with her godparents while her parents went out on a vacation. They didn’t know each other long, just enough to care and be the best friends they would have. They shared good memories and had a little too much fun. Lynn told Robyn that Jason wasn’t a cool person and it would be wise to stay away from him. Robyn though decided to take the other path and chose Jason. Just recently, Lynn called to say hi, and this summer she should come over. Since Lynn was going to collage in the fall, she wanted to have her fun before she went to collage.

Robyn turned on her back and looked up at her ceiling and tried to remember what Lynn said.

They would stay the summer in Idaho, in a friend’s summer vacation house outside Idaho Falls, and then leave that fall. So really it was just summer. Lynn’s father also said that he was flying over there and could get her tickets before he left but he couldn’t get her on his plane.  Robyn was so exited about what happen over the phone, she was heart broken when Cye said ‘I don’t want you in any trouble and I can see you two in trouble the instant you got off the plane.’ Of course, Robyn wanted to go alone. But she wouldn’t mind surprising Lynn with 5 cute guys fallowing her out the door.

As Robyn was planning on how she was going to plan her get away, the doorbell rang. She was at the door within seconds before Cye was. It was the others. Robyn was dressed in baggy light blue sweat pants and a baggy sweater from Cye’s closet. Her fingers were the only skin touching the door knob. When she looked at Kento, who was in front, he was dressed in baggy Levis with a tee shirt, with an ad on the front. Same with every one else. Actually, they all came back wearing their team shirt for jungle ball. Cye didn’t go cause he had chores and he almost broke his shin last time. Cye wanted it to heal before he went out again. They all tried to get him to at least to come but he preferred to stay away from the field till he was better.

Robyn let them in, after Kento picked her up and set her aside so he could find out what Cye was cooking. Just as Rowen pasted the door, which was the last to get in, Robyn noticed he was bleeding on his left leg. Funny, he wasn’t limping, well not LIMPING, just sort of walk different. “Rowen, hold up,” she called casually. “What happened to your poor leg?” She bent down to see what happened.

“Hey, I didn’t know it was bleeding. Oh, some punk Kento later ran over kicked me. No biggie,” he tied to walk away when Robyn stopped him and told him to sit on the couch. Rowen sighed. He would rather go eat, he was starving.

She ran into the bathroom to find a bandage.  Rowen obeyed, hoping she wasn’t going to slap him when he screamed bloody murder after she put the peroxide on him. Cye just was surprised that she was helping Rowen. When he got hurt she just kept cheering till bedtime. Then she noticed when they got home and made a big deal.

Robyn came back with the peroxide, but just let Rowen go crazy instead of slapping him. Cye heard him growling and poked his head in to see. Rowen grinned and stuck out his tongue childishly at Cye. Robyn saw him and dabbed him a bit harder and watched him squeal. She wrapped him up and left. Tapping him on the shin where he was kicked just to make him mad.

She still wasn’t happy with what Cye told her and was trying to act normal. When she walked back in, she noticed that Cye wasn’t motioning anything about her get-away to Kento. Though, why would he? He just asked what he missed and when the next game was. He did though give Robyn a warning glare before she sat down. Robyn smiled back.

At the table, she decided to tell everyone. Even after Cye told her no. “Hey, guess what, one of my friends from America called. She said I should go over for the summer. But Cye says no. What do you think?” She regretted saying ‘Cye says no’ part. All eyes were on her, even Cye’s. Except his were angry, yet telling her to run.

“Yeah,” Ryo raised an eyebrow. “If you want to go, go. Where are you going to get the money? And when are you going.” Ryo took another bite of his meal.

“She is going to go during the collage break before the collage expedition,” Cye said to his plate as he took another bite. “But I don’t want her to go alone. I would like to go with her. You know, incase she gets in trouble. Plus I could use a get out of the house time.”

“Why don’t we all go?” Kento jumped.

“Well, the girl’s dad was only paying for me.” Robyn lowered her head, preparing to hear Cye’s annoying yelling. Instead silence continued. She continued to whisper, “I would have to call her back and see if he could get you guys on too.”

Cye was also looking at his feet when he started to speak. “Yeah, Robyn, why don’t we all go? I’ll call her myself and see if we can go”

Sage’s eyes grew. He wanted to stay here! He could find something to do with out them! “I’ll stay here,” Sage smiled. “Dad wanted me to help with the Dojo.”

“No you’re going buddy, I talked to your dad and he said that we needed a vacation.” Rowen grinned.

Robyn was amazed yet angry with what he was saying. She really didn’t want them to come but what was she going to do? They would find a way on anyway. Her hair moved gently as she lifted her head. “Ok,” she whispered. “If you can go, I won’t stop you coming.”

“Leave it to me guys. Just get permission to go, and we are going to America. Only for the summer I am hoping.” Cye smiled and went to turn on the TV.

“Yep, only the summer.” That was the last thing said about the trip. Not till Robyn and Cye called her back making arrangements. Then it was the airport.

“I don’t think we should be on this plane anyway. I have better things to do like…well…Don‘t you remember what happened last time,” Sage grumbled. Sage didn’t want to go in the first place but Robyn had to deal with everyone else, she wasn’t going to deal with Sage’s ‘have to stay home thing.’ He was coming if he wanted to or not. Even Rowen was bothering him about it. So, in order to be left alone he said he would go.

“Hey, you guys are lucky that I could convince your parents that you could go.” Rowen gave the attendant the tickets. Cye had called and Lynn’s father had got them their tickets. He didn’t mention anything to Lynn though, and would never tell her that he knew they were there. Rowen’s job was to convince the parents that they were going to be okay. He did it all successfully.

“Come on guys, think positive. You will meet some one new within twenty-four hours.” Robyn handed her ticket, and followed Cye. Rowen and Ryo had to get into some betting and betted that Cye couldn’t handle Robyn as a wife. Just on the way there. Robyn then joined and if they could act like they were married the way there, they would get thirty dollars each.

“Hurry, I want to see what they have for the snack,” Kento picked up Robyn again carrying her down the hall to catch up to Cye. He was finally free from his younger siblings. At this point, he was ready to throw them into the closet. But of course his parents told him to just ignore their comments and go on his trip.

“Relax Kento, everything will be ok, I still can’t believe we are doing this,” Ryo shrugged and pasted Kento. He remembered going to New York and was excited to use his passport again.

The most of trip was quiet. They did talk but there really wasn’t anything to talk about. With Sage sleeping or reading, Rowen and Kento were playing poker, Ryo and Cye played their game boys (Tony Hawk), and Robyn snuggling up with Cye. Every once in a while he would roll her over and cover her up. But she would just cuddle back up with him again in minutes. If she wasn’t doing that she was reading with Sage or playing solitaire. Every once in a while, Rowen would poke his head into her game and give her a tip. She would reply by shooing him off. There wasn’t a lot to do on the plane. They just sat back and took the opportunity to play around on their first day off.

12:34 a.m., Cye yawned and sat up. He turned around and saw Rowen reading quietly. He said nothing and just got up to go to the restroom. At this time Robyn woke. She just woke up and saw Cye was gone. When she turned around, she saw Rowen smiling at her and went back to reading. She smiled back and went on back to sleep like the others. When Cye came out, he went right back to sleep. Robyn wasn’t completely asleep and when Cye made a whimpering sound, she tried to comfort him.            She woke to Rowen shaking her. Cye had got some stomach pains and was the first one off at Sacramento, California. They needed to get off, go walk or something. Robyn was too stubborn and insisted to have Kento carry her off. They would get on a flight now to Salt Lake, Utah. There, they would drive the rest of the way to Lynn’s.

Robyn, Rowen, Kento, and Ryo sat quietly waiting for Cye to get out of the rest- room. The whole ride was pretty quiet. Kento wondered if something was wrong. Was it something someone did? He stayed quiet like the others though, keeping his thoughts in. Ryo on the other was wondering if Cye was alive. Sage went in with him, and neither of them came out yet. Rowen was looking at Robyn sleeping. She was so peaceful, yet when she wanted to sleep, Rowen couldn’t hold her back. Robyn herself wasn’t feeling good. But she knew that was from the flight.

Cye came out looking really white. Sage was holding him up. “I think we need to get something for his stomach guys,” Sage yawned as he set Cye by Robyn. “I think he’s got food poisoning. Not sure, but looks like it.”

“Well we still got 2 hours to go before our next flight,” Ryo stood up, taking a long stretch. He needed one of those. “Rowen,” Rowen looked up at the sound of his name. “I think you should go find a pharmacy. Or at lease try to. Sage you stay with Cye and Robyn. Don’t wake her up. Everyone else. Find a medicine shop or something to eat.” Ryo wasn’t in the mood to be dealing with Cye’s food poisoning problem. He probably had some seafood. Ryo thought to himself.

Great, I have to go. Why me, I’m tired too. Rowen sighed. He wanted to sleep as much as everyone else. He also had to look for some medication for poor Cye. Rowen hiked up the stairs, that’s where he saw a bookstore. It was closed since it was like 1:18a.m. But still, why not check it out.

“Rowen, what are you doing,” Ryo said as he leaned against the wall. “Rowen, we don’t have the time. Please see if you can find something to help Cye. Then when he is better you can tease him or something.” Ryo patted his shoulder as Rowen chuckled at what his mind was going though and nodded.

“Yeah, alright. I’ll find something but only to make Robyn happy.” Rowen grinned and walked back down the stairs.

Ryo smiled softly and headed back down and over to Kento who already had some medicine.

Ryo turned the corner to find Sage was sleeping. His blonde hair was not only over his eye. But on Cye’s shoulder as well. He was fast asleep, ditto for Cye. Ryo decided to just let them sleep. Ryo wasn’t as sleepy any more so he put Robyn on a chair, wrapped a blanket over her, and sat there to see she didn’t leave.

Ryo watched her, never in his life has he seen her sleep this long. Maybe she stayed up with Rowen. He gently put his hand on her rib case. Nothing else, he only wanted to feel her breathing. Cye’s breathing was short and quick, Robyn’s were slow and long. Hopefully she didn’t get food poisoning as well. I don’t think she did. She would be breathing like Cye. Almost positive. Ryo didn’t now Cye was now awake and Kento was standing over him till, Kento whistled. Ryo quickly pulled his hand from Robyn and turned around like a gun had just been shot.

“I found something,” Kento held out a bottle. “Rowen went to get us something to eat. Here Cye.” Now that Cye was awake he could take some medicine. “Look, here he comes. Rowen! Over here! The guy said at the mart to have something to eat and drink lots of water.”

“Hey, I got us a pizza. I hope that’s ok. How are ya Cye? Feeling any better?” Rowen grinned and tossed him the box.

“Yeah, a bit, sorry man, I'm not hungry. Thanks though.” Cye handed the pizza to Kento who didn’t waste anytime to dig in.

“I can’t believe you don’t want any, is Robyn still sleeping? I got her a sandwich. They didn’t have enough for her. Sage got the last piece.” Kento said with his mouth full.

“Yeah, I’m awake,” everyone jumped. They thought she was asleep! It made Ryo jump higher since he had his hand on her earlier. “Thanks, for the sandwich. So…” Robyn yawned. “What is wrong with Cye?” No one answered. Cye himself didn’t know.

“We think he has food poisoning. He must have got it before the plane. He was the only one who had that hamburger stuff.” Kento was given several looks before he saw Cye’s eyes. He raised his eyebrow, yet supposedly saying, ‘oh, yeah, you had a whole pizza! I had one hamburger.’ Of course, Kento ignored Cye and went on staring at Robyn who was gulping down her sandwich.

It was almost 6 a.m. when they got on the plane for Salt Lake. Most of them were awake, and remained awake the whole time. Only Ryo and Rowen slept. Robyn played solitaire with Cye, and Sage and Kento were having a staring contest. An attendant lady came by with some pop and a snack of your choice. She marveled at Sage, and tried to take her time so she could get glimpses of him in. Sage knew what was going on; where- ever he went he could not hide from those types of girls. While on the other side of the isle, Robyn was freaking out cause she couldn’t win a silly solitaire game. Cye was trying to help her, but she just slid down in her seat and continues to mumble that she got crappy cards at Sacramento.

5 minutes before they landed at Salt Lake, Ryo and Rowen woke. Cye was feeling better and so was Robyn. Robyn was the first one off; hopefully she would recognize Lynn. Only there was no Lynn, only a young man with a picture in his hand. He approached her as if she was a croc. “You are Robyn McCarthy aren’t you,” The young man asked. He was about 5”2’, Blonde hair and forest green eyes. He was wearing jeans and a Baseball shirt that said Rockies on it.

            “Yes, and you are?”

“My name is Cole, Cole Larson, nice to meet you. I suppose these are some friends of yours.”

“I thought your friend was a girl,” Cye laughed out loud.

Robyn quickly shut him up with a slight hit in the ribs. “Yeah, they just won’t stop fallowing me!” Cole quickly fallowed Cye laughing.  “This is Cye, Rowen, Sage, Ryo and Kento,” Robyn pointed to them as she named them.

“Well Lynn’s parents were in an accident, so if you could sit here with me and wait for her, she should show up…Oh, there she is. Lynn! Over here!” Cole waved at Lynn.

“Hey! Robyn! So good to see you. Look at you, you have grown. I see you already have 5 good looking’s fallowing you,” Lynn giggled. Lynn was about 5 feet, with light brown hair and sparkling green eyes. She was also wearing jeans and tee shirt that said “Wassup” instead.

“Yep, stuck with them; meet Cye, Rowen, Kento, Ryo, and Sage,” Again Robyn pointed to them as she introduced them. “So what are we going to do now?”

“Well, we are going to go home. Or at least to Cole’s summer house. Oh! Did you guys meet? Robyn this is boy boyfriend, Cole. Cole, this Robyn, an old friend from school. Cole’s Parents would be there with us but Cole has other siblings so they can’t. Mine would be there but dad has a bunch more flights. Scott said he would be there as much as possible though.”

“Yes, nice to meet you Cole. Well do you have a big enough truck to hold us all?”

“Yep,” Cole stood up and smiled as if this was all planed out. “We brought my truck and her little truck. Lets see,” Cole pointed to Cye, Ryo, and Sage. “You guys can come with me. The others will go with Lynn, deal?”

“Sure,” Ryo smiled and fallowed Cole out to he’s truck.

“Great, I have to get stuck with Rowen.” Robyn mumbled to her self. Lynn laughed to her self; she didn’t know these guys yet and automatically figured that this Rowen dude was the naughty one. “Hey at least we have good old Kento.”

“Well come on, we better get on the road.” Lynn walked of with Robyn by her side. They continued to talk about what they have been missing and how good it was to see each other.

“So you are…” Cole looked back to Cye.

“Cye Mouri, this is Ryo Sanada, and Sage Date.”

“Oh ok, that’s cool. I have too many names so bear with me. So Did Robyn make have you come along, or what?”

“No,” Ryo said. “We made her take us.” Sage’s fallowed Ryo’s laugh.

“Wow! Sage is laughing,” Cye marveled. Sage’s laugh was silenced.

“What do you want to see? Do you have any questions about what is going to happen?” Cole pulled into a gas station.

“No,” Ryo opened the door to help pump the gas.

Cye quickly recognized Lynn’s car pull behind them. Everyone got out and stretched. One more hour till they reached the house. Cye also got out to see how everyone was. Sage stayed, he was comfy the way he was. Sage could hear his friends laughing. Finally, everyone came back in and they drove off.

“Here we are,” Cole called over the seat. “Beware, I got a Lab in there. He’s in the back in his kennel but if he barks just ignore him.”

“Ok,” Ryo jumped out and grabbed his bags. Cye and Sage fallowed.

Cye stopped short, “do we wait for rooms, or do we just choose?”

“Go ahead. Pick, I don’t know if Lynn wants to assign bedrooms. If you guys didn’t come we would have empty rooms. So go ahead.”

“O…K…” Cye turned and went inside.

It was a big house, almost as big as Mia’s. Cye walked up stairs to find a room. He decided that the 2nd door on the left looked good. It did have a bed. A single, so he decided that him and Kento could take turns who gets the bed. The room was next to Rowen and Sage’s and across from the bathroom. Next to the bathroom was where Lynn slept, and if you go straight, that was where Robyn was staying. Ryo slept down stairs beside Cole. Cye knew it was getting late and asked Cole if he could start with dinner.

            “You can cook, well…sure.”

As Cye got started, the others walked in. Robyn went right up to her room fallowed by Lynn, and they were laughing the whole way. Rowen came in second with Kento also laughing. Cole was sitting on the couch watching Bugs Bunny tease Elmer. Ryo, Kento, and Rowen sat down at watched with him. Sage was finishing his book and Cye almost had dinner done.

“What are you laughing at,” Cye pondered out loud.

“Nothing you don’t want to know about,” Rowen returned still laughing.

“Rowen! Tell me, or… I …. I will let you stay with Robyn one night.”

“I am serious, you do not want to know. You mean sleep with her?”

“No! I mean, when I leave to get ice cream for our dessert, I will leave her here. Duh!”

            “Mmm…..no.”

“Cye,” Cole entered the kitchen. “Why don’t you ask her your self?”

“Maybe I will.” Cye turned to Rowen and stuck his tongue out like a child would and walked up the stairs. The hallway was light by 2 wall lamps. Cye could hear the girls laughing in Robyn’s room. He hesitated and then opened the door. He didn’t like opening Robyn’s door with out permission, but at the same time didn’t much care what she thought. It made him mad she didn’t even say hi on her way in. On the other hand, why would she? “What is so funny,” Cye placed his palms on his hips and gave a curious look.

“Well……… Should I tell him Lynn?”

“No, let’s let him go mad.”

“Oh, ok Cye I’ll tell ya.” Cye cocked his head, waiting for her. “Later.”

Cye’s face turned red then he breathed out. “Please,” Cye leaned his body against the doorframe, refusing to move.

“Ok, on our way back we saw….This really hot dude. So Lynn pulled over to see if he wanted to come over and play monopoly with us. Well he says, ‘of course Lynn, I got to come with ya anyway. Open the door!’ In reality, it was Scott, Lynn’s big brother, she knew that too. But when she dropped him off to go swimming, he gave her a bad time that she had to pick us up. So instead of letting him in, she locked the doors and made him run a mile beside the car. Oh my gosh, his face was so red! It was so funny. He was cussing up and down. We didn’t know. Last time I saw him he didn’t bleach the top of his head. So I was like ‘how do you know her?’ And he went, ‘duh Robyn, I am Scott, Lynn’s big annoying brother!’ That’s when we really couldn’t stop laughing. Hey, what’s that smell? It smells like…”

“Oh! My rice and chicken! Shoot! Tell me later.” Cye hurried down the stairs.

“Ok, time to stop, it really wasn’t THAT funny.” Lynn got up to go unpack in her room.

“Yeah, but I didn’t know he was your brother. All I kept saying was ‘pull over, I want to talk with that sexy guy!’” Robyn slowed her laugh and got up to go help Cye. “So are we going to play after lunch?”

            “Uh, monopoly I hope.”

“Ok see you there.” Robyn walked down stairs. The first thing she saw was Cye yelling at Kento to get out of the kitchen. She laughed and went to go see if see if she could save the barrier of Hard Rock from the barrier of Torrent.

“Cye,” Robyn swung her arms around his skinny neck. “Please stop, your scaring me.” She and every one else started to laugh. Cye didn’t know if she insulted him or what. But he stopped and went back to stirring the rice and flips the chicken. Scott came in and downstairs to get his room ready.

Cole did the unthinkable then. He walked over and tasted the chicken. Cye immediately grabbed him and threw him out. Cole landed on his face with a *thump* and skidded across the floor.

“I wouldn’t go in there. Cye hates that,” Kento helped him up and offered him a chip.

“Yeah, well it’s my house. This sucks, I’m starving!”

“Well you’ll just have to wait.” Cole knew he was being sarcastic but couldn’t help but make a whining sound.

“So,” Scott said trying to swallow. “When do we play?”

“As soon as everyone is done.” Lynn stood to put her plate in the dishwasher.

“Are you going to stay Scott?” Cole stood behind Lynn showing her how to work open it.

            “Yep, if that’s ok.”

“No, that’s ok. Where are you going to stay? With Lynn or me?”

            “Can I stay with you?”

“Yep, is that ok Lynn?” Cole stepped back and put his dish in.

“Sure is, I like the room to my self any way,” Lynn said as she gave a quick peck to Cole’s cheek and left to set up Monopoly.

“She really likes you doesn’t she?” Kento laughed.

            “Yeah, why do you ask?”

“I am always trying to get girls. How do you do it?”

“Don’t know. She’s my 3rd one. I scared the others off. All I know is that she’s happy and that’s what she and I want.”

“Yeah Kent make her happy,” Ryo was the next to put his dish in the dishwasher. Then he walked over to Robyn and gave her a little tickle before entering the living room.

“Ryo,” Robyn tried to cough her food back up. “Leave me *cough* be!” Kento gave her a good hit on the back as her food went back in to her mouth.

As soon as everyone was done they went to play Monopoly. Everyone knew how to play. The Game lasted till 11 p.m. that’s when Scott, Rowen, and Ryo quit. Robyn decided that she was going to stay and put the game away while everyone was going to bed. Then she was going to watch TV till she was tired. It was almost 11:45 when She turned the TV off and headed up the stairs. But before she reached the first step she heard something outside.

She walked to the door, hoping it was just a dog. But instead she saw Lynn and Cole out on the swings talking. She hesitated before opening the door, but then heard they weren’t talking about her or for that fact any one she knew.

“Hey, can I join ya, or do you want to be alone.” Robyn smiled as she stepped out side.

“No, you can come sit.” Lynn made her head move to the swing next to her.

            “What’s the subject?”

“Oh, we were just saying how nice the stars were tonight.”

            “That’s not what I heard.”

            “Oh,” Cole wondered. “then what?”

“Something about your parents Lynn. Are they going to be ok?”

“Yeah, their fine. I am just surprised that the Cab driver was drunk. They never knew. They should be out by Sunday though. So no worries.” Lynn turned to Cole and leaned her head on his shoulder.

“Oh, well it is getting late, I better get off to bed. You too.” Robyn stood up. She hadn’t been there more then 5 minutes and was ready to go to bed. “Good Night,” Robyn called over her shoulder as she walked though the door.

“Yeah, it’s almost mid-night. Are you sure you are going to be ok?” Cole helped her up the porch stairs.

“Uh huh. Good night Cole, sweet dreams.”
